Divine Science Statement of Being

God is all, both invisible and visible.
One Presence, One Mind, One Power is all;
This One that is all is perfect life, perfect love,
and perfect substance.
I Am an individualized expression of God
and I am ever one with this perfect life,
perfect love, and perfect substance.

Divine Science is a religious teaching in the tradition of New Thought. It is often compared to Religious Science (Science of Mind and Spirit) and Unity School of Christianity, with a different emphasis. That different emphasis includes a deeper appreciation and practical application of mysticism, focusing on the Omnipresence of God, and therefore immediate availability of the Divine.

Although Divine Science ministries often have buildings in which meetings are held, there are also ministries that are strictly internet in style. In fact, most of the New Thought pioneers were not interested in founding churches at all. Their original intent was to teach the Truth, students would return to their regular churches with enhanced understanding and new methods for accessing the Allness called God, and that for practical purposes.

The originator of Divine Science was Malinda Elliot Cramer, who shared her teaching and vision with the three Brooks sisters in Denver, CO. As the Brooks sisters studied and applied what they had learned, they attracted audiences, which led to the need for some sort of organization. Because of the relationship they had developed with Cramer (who lived in San Francisco) they asked if they too might use the name "Divine Science," and thus began another branch of the movement. In fact, Malinda Cramer died soon after the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 and the Divine Science flame was then carried by the Denver foundation.

Although Nona Brooks' name is the most known of the three, her sisters were also instrumental in the foundation of Denver Divine Science and later the Divine Science College. Fannie Brooks James was the author of the book, "Truth and Health," the textbook of Divine Science.

Divine Science can best be understood through the writings which are presented here.
